GFB Sourdough Bagel Baking Mix 500g

You can now make our hugely popular sourdough bagels at home!
Just add water, (and agave for our Boss Bagel flavour). Mix, boil and bake. Boil longer for more chewiness or less for a more bready mouthfeel. Add other ingredients such as raisins, onions, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes for different flavoured bagels. Top as you wish, smoked salmon, creamed cheese, chocolate spreads, peanut butter! Eat fresh from the oven, freeze them, toast them.

GFB is the Gluten Free Bakery (and formerly Rana’s Bakery). It is well known in the restaurant trade for providing delicious freshly baked gluten free artisan sourdough bread to  restaurants. And now they have developed these simple baking kits so you could recreate the warm delicious gluten free bread and crispy crackers in your own home. All kits are super simple to use – just add water!

NatureDoc Tip: You may need to experiment with timing and oven temperature. It took us three tries to get the loaf beautifully golden and crusty. We did that by bumping up the temperature to 220 instead of 210 degrees in the instructions, and increasing the baking time on the label by 10 minutes to 90 minutes in a non-fan oven. And then it was FANTASTIC!

All Rana’s Bakery Mixes are:

  • Free from all 14 major allergens
  • Yeast free and made from real sourdough
  • Suitable for vegans
  • No preservatives, refined sugar or nasties!

Mixes contain no preservatives, so will keep like any artisan bread.

Can be frozen once made for 3 months. Defrost at room temperature or 10-15 minutes in the oven to serve warm.

Potato starch, tapioca flour, brown rice flour*, sorghum flour, millet flour*, oat flour, stabilser: xanthan gum, salt, sourdough starter (1%), coconut sugar*, gluten free oats, garlic

Add bagel mix, water and agave syrup (if using) to the bowl and mix. Leave to sit for 5 minutes whilst you grease a piping bag. Pipe equal sized rings onto baking tray, using a wet spatula. Place rings in to boiling water for 2 mins. Remove and finish by baking in the oven.
