NOW Foods was founded in Illinois in 1968 by Elwood Richard, a physical chemist who ran a small chain of health food stores in the Chicago area. After losing customers to supermarkets due to high prices, he realised that healthy foods needed to be affordable. The family-owned company now manufactures over 1,400 dietary supplements, natural foods and personal care products.

The range includes vitamins, minerals, amino acids, probiotics, essential oils and sports nutrition products. Manufacturing facilities are based in Bloomingdale, Illinois, Sparks, Nevada, and Ontario, Canada. The company has been GMP-certified since 2000 and operates in-house testing laboratories. Products are sold in more than 60 countries worldwide.
