Baobab is the fruit of the Adansonia tree, known across much of Africa as the tree of life. It is unusual in that it dries on the branch rather than being picked ripe and dried afterwards, so the pulp can be sieved straight from the pod into a powder without heating or any further processing.
This is a single-ingredient product: organic baobab fruit pulp powder and nothing else. No carriers, no fillers, no added sugar. The fruit is wild harvested rather than farmed, and the powder is certified organic by Soil Association Certification (GB-ORG-05) and kosher certified by KLBD. It is suitable for vegans, and it won a Great Taste award in 2015.
The flavour is tangy and citrussy with a natural sweetness. Aduna suggest two to four teaspoons stirred into smoothies, yoghurt and breakfasts, or shaken into a water bottle. It also works in baking, dressings and anywhere a little fruit tartness is wanted.
Aduna works directly with harvesting communities in rural Africa, and state on the pack that every purchase creates sustainable incomes for women there.
